Colorado had a recall election this week, and two democrat senators who voted for the state’s new gun-control laws were turned out by the voters. One of them -Angela Giron- can’t accept the truth that voters did not want these laws, and instead makes an ass of herself claiming the real reason for her defeat was voter suppression. It’s laughable, and the editorial board of the Denver Post tells her so.
Democratic Sen. Angela Giron couldn’t walk off the political stage gracefully after her defeat this week in a recall election in Pueblo. On CNN Thursday, she claimed she lost because … well, let’s have her take up the story in her own words.
“We know what really happened here … ,” Giron said. “What this story really is about, it’s about voter suppression.
“When Colorado has voted by mail — 70 percent of Coloradans vote by mail — and we didn’t have access to that mail ballot.”
At this point an impatient Brooke Baldwin cut Giron off, insisting they proceed to the “meat of the story.” But Giron plunged on. “The people that are in support of very common-sense gun legislation weren’t able to get to the polls,” Giron alleged.
People who supported her “weren’t able” to get to the polls? Nonsense. They were no less able to get to the polls than folks on the other side. If a disproportionate number of her supporters failed to vote, it’s because they chose not to.
