That would be the Church of Climatology, and its high priests ARE the government. Despite having a really crappy record of prognostication, the climate doomsayers still insist we’re doomed (my bold emphasis in the quoted section) if we don’t pay Mother Gaia tribute by destroying our economy and returning to the 18th century.algore hypocrite

Yet a new religion has been imposed upon the citizens of this country.  It  emanates from the highest federal levels; it has found its voice in the White House bully pulpit.  It is promulgated with a religious fervor reminiscent of the fictional Elmer Gantry.  This religion is complete with warnings and admonitions of coming days of doom for mankind lest the new tenets be rejected by anyone.

In this era of electronic communications, this new religion’s commandments have been dispersed via the internet, which obviated the inconvenience of another trip to Mt. Sinai.  The 2014 tablets bear the title of the third “National Climate Assessment (NCA)” report.

At over 800 pages, this federal document of secular religion – based on human guilt and the presumptive sin of having eaten excessively of fossil fuel – outstrips the Ten Commandments by a mile in word count.  Man-made carbon dioxide has been targeted by the high priests of the profane as some sort of original sin staining the purity of the virgin Earth, thereby bringing the wrath of devil-like climate change in punishment.  Heat waves, excessive rainfall, floods, ocean rise, crop failures are retributions awaiting mankind should the new Federal religion be violated by human-caused carbon dioxide emanations. Lacking a true Biblical source, the high priests of this federal climate religion have relied on their man-made computers to foretell these days of doom, should mankind not renounce this essential, life-giving gas…carbon dioxide.

The reality of years of climate observations has not supported the prophecies of these priestly climate computers.   Two federal agencies, NOAA and NASA, both confirm that there has been no increase in global temperature for the past 17 years, even as atmospheric carbon dioxide has increased over 9 percent.  Risking running afoul of Voltaire’s admonition – “It is dangerous to be right in matters on which the established authorities are wrong” – McKitrick, Spencer, and others have published the failures of these foundational computer engines of the new federal climate dogma.  Heck, even the ancient Oracle at Delphi had a better track record of forecasting, albeit with the benefit of a few whiffs of earthly hydrocarbon gases, including ethylene.

Oreskes study on AGW consensus with IPCCYou’ve probably heard that figure plenty of times. Some eco-doofus gets the all-too-frequently-granted media platform to spread hysteria and says “the science is settled; 97% of scientists agree that global warming climate change whatever they’re calling it this week is caused by man.” Well, it’s not true, there IS NO CONSENSUS. Actually, only 1-3% of scientists responding to a survey agree explicitly with the IPCC view.

The main pillar of the warmist argument is the contention that a “consensus” exists among scientists that global warming is caused by man and threatens catastrophe. But a Canada-based group calling itself Friends of Science has just completed a review of the four main studies used to document the alleged consensus and found that only 1 – 3% of respondents “explicitly stated agreement with the IPCC declarations on global warming,” and that there was “no agreement with a catastrophic view.” Read More

Twitter was full of love for Algore and his global warming climate change BS yesterday – awesome.

Gore sold his Current TV network to Al Jazeera just before the end of the year. The staff’s first meeting with their new owners didn’t leave them feeling very good about the whole thing:

(New York Post) “Of course Al didn’t show up,” said one high placed Current staffer. “He has no credibility.al-gore-plane

“He’s supposed to be the face of clean energy and just sold [the channel] to very big oil, the emir of Qatar! Current never even took big oil advertising—and Al Gore, that bulls***ter sells to the emir?”

The meeting, while not contentious, was, according to staffers who spoke on the condition of anonymity, miserable.

How do they feel about Gore the savior of green energy now?

The displeasure with Gore among the staff was thick enough to cut with a scimitar.

“We all know now that Al Gore is nothing but a bulls***ter,” said the staffer bluntly.

We do stories on the tax code, and he sells the network before the tax code kicked in?

“Al was always lecturing us about green. He kept his word about green all right—as in cold, hard cash!”

Ahem, yes. So now they get it. The key word is bullsh*t.

Algore offers up the lamest excuse yet for why Obama got spanked in last night’s first presidential debate. I can hear Tommy Flanagan now.

“Obama arrived in Denver at 2 p.m. today — just a few hours before the debate started,” Gore said on his network, Current. “Romney did his debate prep in Denver. When you go to 5,000 feet, and you only have a few hours to adjust, I don’t know…”

Another entry in the eco-bullsh*t files. Algore must be beside himself.

Computer models have been indicating, for at least 20 years, that the ice shelves in Antarctica are losing mass faster than they are gaining it. That is, they’re melting – and presumably from “global warming.” Scientists from the Norwegian Polar Institute have conducted studies that disprove these models, and show that overall the polar ice is maintaining a “steady state”.

“Previous ocean models … have predicted temperatures and melt rates that are too high, suggesting a significant mass loss in this region that is actually not taking place,” says Tore Hattermann of the Norwegian Polar Institute, member of a team which has obtained two years’ worth of direct measurements below the massive Fimbul Ice Shelf in eastern Antarctica – the first ever to be taken.

According to a statement from the American Geophysical Union, announcing the new research:

It turns out that past studies, which were based on computer models without any direct data for comparison or guidance, overestimate the water temperatures and extent of melting beneath the Fimbul Ice Shelf. This has led to the misconception, Hattermann said, that the ice shelf is losing mass at a faster rate than it is gaining mass, leading to an overall loss of mass.

The team’s results show that water temperatures are far lower than computer models predicted …

Hatterman and his colleagues, using 12 tons of hot-water drilling equipment, bored three holes more than 200m deep through the Fimbul Shelf, which spans an area roughly twice the size of New Jersey. The location of each hole was cunningly chosen so that the various pathways by which water moves beneath the ice shelf could be observed, and instruments were lowered down.

Overall, according to the team, their field data shows “steady state mass balance” on the eastern Antarctic coasts – ie, that no ice is being lost from the massive shelves there.

Or so the WWF (not the wrestling people, but the wildlife people) would have us believe. They say, in a new report, that we’ll need “another planet Earth” to sustain human life by 2030. Maybe these guys should take a look at the prognostications of Paul Ehrlich (who’s been proven wrong so many times we’ve lost count), or Edward Malthus, or Algore (it’s only two more years until the polar ice is all melted, y’all). I prefer to look at things the way Julian Simon did: man’s ingenuity is the ultimate resource, and with it, we will solve all these problems, and resources that are currently thought of as being depleted too quickly will be more plentiful than we could have imagined.

Planet Earth in a tight spot.

Mankind is draining the earth’s resources so quickly the globe would be bled dry before the end of the century at this rate, a new report shows.

Humans are living outside their means, depleting natural resources like forests, air and water 50% faster than the planet can renew, according to the 2012 World Wildlife Fund’s “Living Planet Report” released this month.

If the trends aren’t reversed, by 2030 we’d need more than two Planet Earths to sustain human activity, according to the study.

“If we just do business as usual…we’re just going to continue moving in this direction. At some point, the earth’s going to just give out. We don’t know when. But that’s a pretty scary thing to think about,” said Colby Loucks, director of conservation science at WWF. “The question is, we don’t know what the tipping point is.”
